Owning a pet is a lifelong commitment. People should think long and hard long before becoming pet owners. Not all pets are low maintenance, some pets require a lot of attention and care. Every animal you bring into your house deserves your love! Why people end up surrendering or leaving their pets at an animal shelter varies.
Some people are moving to another apartment that doesn’t allow pets. Some people have allergies to fur or dander and have to give up their pets. Other people claim there are behavior problems that can’t be fixed. Sometimes the behavior problems are serious, like biting or aggression.
Improper elimination or too much barking are another common behavioral complaints. Often times, the behavior problems can be corrected, with training and patience. This is Shadow, a 7-year-old dog who is being left at a California shelter by his family.
Shadow is an escape artist and the family named this as one reason they do not want him anymore.
In the video, you can see how the dog is making contact with his owner, Shadow seems to know what is happening and doesn’t want to be left behind! Shelter workers describe Shadow as a very friendly dog who gets along with kids and other dogs!
